Venice Flight Guide
Venice is located in Italy and is one of the most romantic destinations of Europe. With its countless canals, gondolas and alleys, it has a personal charm and a dreamy character that visitors never forget. Venice is very different from other Italian cities and carries a long history with it. One peculiar thing about it is that all public transport is on water. San Marco is one of the places you can reach by water bus or taxi and is packed with sights and elegance that makes Venice such a special place. The nightlife here is a fusion of classical music and orchestra, a real delight for music lovers. San Polo is the perfect area for a relaxed day and a nice stroll amongst historical buildings and places. Visitors appreciate the excellent food that can be found in the numerous "Ostarias" for fair prices, which is difficult to find in this world famous city. Less visited by tourists is the district of Santa Croce which is located just outside the main train station. It is a place where locals work, live and celebrate and is definitely worth a visit to experience real Italian lifestyle, honest food and meet the lively people of Venice.
Accommodation is Venice is usually fairly expensive but luxurious nevertheless. To save on hotels it is recommended to browse the season prices or choose a hotel further out from the city centre. The worst time to visit Venice is between June and August because it gets very crowded and hot. Hotels are also overpriced during this high season, and so are restaurants and markets. Rather stick to spring and autumn months or even winter as the temperatures are relatively mild all year round. Qantas and British Airways offer flights from all major Australian airports, but visitors will have to travel via Rome. Cars are not allowed in Venice but you can reach it by train or bus if you are staying in a different city.
