Tel Aviv Flight Guide
Tel Aviv is located on the Mediterranean coast and is probably the most interesting and multicultural city of Israel. While Jerusalem is conservative and the centre of religion, Tel Aviv is dynamic and full of young energy. Nevertheless it is an excellent place to experience Jewish culture, learn about religion, enjoy their lovely traditions and listen to the beautiful sounds of the Hebrew language.
The most famous area of Tel Aviv is the beach promenade called Herbert Samuel Esplanade. It is the perfect place to enjoy a day on the beach and it is particularly beautiful in the early mornings when Tel Aviv is asleep and quiet- the best time to go jogging. In the neighbouring streets of the promenade are numerous accommodations and visitors are strongly advised to book well in advance, especially when arriving on a weekend or during Jewish holidays. Rothschild Boulevard is the best address for an exciting night out and the wealth of this area is reflected in drink & food prices. Shopping is possible anywhere in Tel Aviv, but Ben Yehuda Street has a particular character due to its unique shops and brands. Jaffa is worth a visit if you want to add an Arabic touch to your stay. This small old town has merged with Tel Aviv and is an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the majestic views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Tel Aviv is a great place to visit all year round, but the city and the hotels are usually focussed on summer high-season guests. The best time to go is probably between May-June because July gets very hot and humid in Tel Aviv. There is virtually no rain during the summer and bathing in the ocean is often possible from June onwards, avoiding the heat and crowds. You can fly to Tel Aviv from Sydney, Perth and Brisbane with Qantas, Delta and British Airways. It is also possible to book with other airlines such as El-Al airlines and Emirates but the flight leaving from Australia will be with standard Australian/UK airlines via an Asian/Middle Eastern city. Since going to Tel Aviv often means enforced security checks, it is recommended not to travel with unauthorised items and to allow enough time for these checks at airports. The average travel time from Australia to Tel Aviv is around 19 – 22 hours.
