Shanghai Flight Guide
Shanghai is China's most famous metropolis (together with Beijing) and is also the economic centre of the country. Greater Shanghai is now populated by more than 18 million people and Shanghai port is world's third largest. Iti is located in the same time zone as Beijing and due to its location in the southeast of the country at the Huangpu River estuary, Shanghai is also called ‘the gateway to the world’.
Just like in most other Asian cities, Shanghai’s architecture is dominated by religion. Especially Buddhism is represented all over town with magnificent buildings and temples. At the same time, modernity has made its way into the city which is visible in the central district- skyscrapers, high-rise buildings and towers dominate the skyline. Beautiful homes and villas can be admired in the French Quarter which are remains of the European legacy in Shanghai.
From luxury hotels to simple rooms- everything is possible in Shanghai. Upscale hotels include the Hilton, InterContinental, Radisson, Grand Hyatt and the Sheraton. There are also guest houses, hostels, or so-called ‘Inns’, which are particularly suitable for families. The most famous hotel in Shanghai is the 30-year-old colonial Peace Hotel. Air China offers non-stop direct flights from the largest Australian airports to Shanghai. The trip takes around 11 hours and it is strongly recommended to book on a direct flight. More stops also mean longer flight duration and higher prices.
