San Diego Flight Guide
Not many other cities can offer 295 days of sunshine in a year! San Diego is the metropolis of the American South and spoils visitors not only with fantastic weather but also with an endless choice of activities and leisure. Due to its perfect location between the Pacific Ocean, the Anza Borrego desert and the surrounding mountains, tourists can do almost anything: surfing, sailing, snorkelling, hiking, camping and mountain biking. San Diego combines a subtropical climate with a relaxed atmosphere for people of all ages.
For those who love nature and culture, a visit to Balboa Park is an absolute must. Tourists can relax, go to the world famous San Diego Zoo and visit the numerous museums around the park. From there it is only a short bus ride to the massive Horton Plaza shopping centre, which features 150 shops and is perfect for an afternoon shopping spree. The historical Old Town also has a unique charm with many restaurant and bars. For a great night out, take a trip Downtown to spend the evening in clubs and chic restaurants. It is useful to know that nightlife in San Diego ends at 1.30 am and premises will be shut. The most popular area among students is the Pacific Beach. During the day, the long beach offers the opportunity to swim, snorkel, water ski or simply chill out in the sun.
Flying to San Diego International Airport (SAN) is easy and many airlines offer flights from Australia. Choose between Qantas, Delta, Air Canada, JetStar, Vaustralia, New Zealand airlines and several US airlines. Bear in mind that depending on the airline, travellers will have to catch connecting flights in other US cities or Asia. If you manage to find a convenient connection you may only travel 15 hours, but it can reach up to 25 with many stops.
