Salzburg Flight Guide
Salzburg, commonly known as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is located in the in the north west of Austria. Salzburg is Austria's oldest city and with its 150,000 inhabitants, one of the largest at the same time.
The Getreidegasse in Salzburg is a major attraction and a must for every visitor. Not only is it the birthplace of Mozart, but it is also a fantastic place for a stroll to see the numerous guild signs along the street. Visible from all over Salzburg lies an architectural masterpiece which was the first Baroque church in the northern part of the Alps: the Salzburg Cathedral. Numerous small and large castles dominate the skyline of Salzburg; most of them were built as leisure palaces or to house bishops. The Mirabelle Palace is home to one of the most beautiful wedding rooms in Central Europe and is definitely worth a visit.
The winter in Salzburg is very cold and snowy. For those who prefer a warmer climate it is recommended to go in spring and summer, between March and September. Tourists who want accommodation in the old town near the Getreidegasse can book at the Radisson, the Bristol, the Hotel Goldener Hirsch or the Hotel Sacher. Price-conscious guests may book at one of the many youth guest houses all over Salzburg. There are no airline services between Salzburg and Australian cities. However, it is possible to fly via Vienna.
