Richmond Flight Guide
Richmond is the capital of the U.S. state Virginia and is home to 1.1 million people. It is located along the James River and has a striking skyline of skyscrapers which are surrounded by water. Belle Isle is a small island in the James River which belongs to the city of Richmond and serves as a park. It is a popular destination for walkers and cyclists and used to be a prison camp during the Civil War.
The Virginia State Capitol was designed by former President Jefferson and is definitely worth a visit. There are also numerous interesting museums such as The Museum of Confederacy, Valentine Museum and Tredgar Iron Works as well as the Virginia Holocaust Museum and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Monument Avenue is a nice district for a stroll due to its spectacular architecture dating back to the 19th century. There are also a number of beautiful churches to be explored around Monroe Park.
Richmond airport is fairly small and travellers from Australia can experience very long flight durations. At least 2 stops are involved on a flight from Australia’s largest airports and it can take up to 35 hours to reach Richmond. Be sure to compare different routes and airlines as visitors might be able to book a flight of ‘only’ 25 -27 hours via Los Angeles and Chicago.
