Pensacola Flight Guide
Pensacola is a city located in the U.S. state of Florida and has approx. 437,000 inhabitants. It is also referred to as “The City of Five Flags” because it was occupied by Spain, France, Great Britain and finally the United States. It is particularly famous for its beaches and maritime atmosphere- in fact, it used to have a very important harbour before the Great Depression.
Due to its beautiful location at the Gulf of Mexico, Pensacola has some of the most gorgeous beaches in Florida. Other attractions also include several amusement parks and entertainment districts. Pensacola is (by American standards) a surprisingly "old" city and has three beautiful historic districts with magnificent architectural treasures from the Spanish and Victorian eras. The oldest church of Florida is also located in Pensacola. The Naval Air Station employs several thousand people and its Blue Angels are professionals in formation flying. This is a popular event among locals and tourists and worth seeing.
Pensacola’s airport is not very big and has therefore rather inconvenient connections to offer. Departing from Sydney, passengers will stop at least twice on the way and travel 22-29 hours. Passengers from smaller Australian airports such as Adelaide can expect to fly 36-45 hours depending on the connections and waiting time. These passengers are strongly advised to compare different airlines to pick out the quickest route, and it is generally recommended to make a visit to Pensacola part of a larger trip to Florida.
