Paphos Flight Guide
The coastal town of Paphos is located in the southwest of Cyprus and has become famous through Greek mythology and legends rather than for its attractions. It has only 66, 300 inhabitants and is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage.
There are numerous interesting sights to see such as the medieval castle dating back to the 15th Century. Also worth seeing are the ancient royal tombs and the beautiful floor mosaics which can be admired and many old houses. Paphos’ long history is still kept alive through famous songs and legends. According to Greek mythology, Goddess Aphrodite came out of a shell in the village of Pathos which is now considered her birthplace and in ancient stories, Aphrodite has always claimed Pathos her home. Due to the myths and stories, Paphos is a popular attraction for tourists all year round.
Since Paphos’ international airport is still fairly small and mainly used for European flights, it can be very difficult to reach it from Australia. Even from Sydney, Australia’s largest airport, the average flight duration is 50 hours with 3 stops in Europe on the way. It is strongly recommended to make a visit to Paphos as part of a larger tour through Greece as flights to Athens are shorter and more convenient.
