Nashville is the capital of U.S. state Tennessee and is home to approximately 1.5 million people. It is often referred to as ‘City of Music’ because it is the centre of Country music, a very popular genre in the US.
Tourists are mainly attracted by the music industry of Nashville. On a walk through the city, visitors will come across many music publishers and record companies such as the legendary RCA Studio B. The Country Music Association CMA also has their headquarters in Nashville and the annual CMA Awards are one of the most important events in Tennessee. Tourists can also visit the Country Music Hall of Fame. Nashville has a replica of the Parthenon which was built here in 1897. The original temporary structure was reinforced with a more solid structure in 1897 and is now used as an art gallery. Visitors can admire the statue of Athena which is considered the largest indoor sculpture in the Western world.
Nashville International airport is serviced by numerous airlines and has 4 runways. Qantas and American Airlines offer 1-stop flights between the larger Australian airports and Nashville. Passengers usually fly via Los Angeles and the travel time is approx. 22hours.
