Memphis is the largest city in the U.S. state of Tennessee and is located in the south west on the east bank of the Mississippi River. It is home to approx. 674,000 inhabitants and is one of the classic Southern cities. It owes its economic prosperity to the international transportation company FedEx, which is by far the largest employer in the city.
