Manila Flight Guide
Manila is the capital of the Philippines and is situated on the largest island Manila Bay. Manila was considered one of the most beautiful cities in Asia and gained the nickname "Pearl of the Pacific”. Unfortunately, the Second World War put an end to it by destroying large parts of the island. Manila has 11 million inhabitants and is the cultural, spiritual, economic and political centre of the Philippines. The settlement of Manila goes back to the 9th Century and some architectural traces are still visible today.
The areas of interest for tourists are located along the water and include parks, numerous notable buildings from the Spanish colonial era and several Churches of various faiths. The Roxas Boulevard leads along Paranaque City into the heart of Manila from where tourists have the best views of the famous Manila sunset. The best nightlife areas are in the districts of Pasay, Makati, Quezon City and at the Roxas Boulevard. Worth seeing are also the numerous museums which are all located in and around the city centre.
Manila has tropical weather and the rainy period between May and November often involves storms and hurricanes. Between March and May it can be very hot, so the best time to visit is between November and March. Several Asian airlines offer flights between Australia and Manila. The flight duration can be anywhere from 15 to 23 hours and it is strongly recommended to browse the internet or consult a travel agent to book the fastest possible flights.
