Kiev is the capital and largest city of the Ukraine. It is home to about 2.7 million inhabitants and is sometimes referred to as ‘Jerusalem of the North’ due to the large amount of churches and religious significance which goes back to the middle ages. Kiev has an international airport which is serviced by several European, Asian and Middle Eastern airlines. Travellers departing from the main Australian airports can reach Kiev within 25 hours and expect 2 stops. Those departing from smaller cities may travel via Sydney and the journey can take up to 40 hours.
