Kathmandu Flight Guide
Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal and the largest city in the country with around 1.6 million residents. It lies in the Kathmandu valley which is surrounded by the Himalaya Mountains and has a long and rich history. Many tourists believe that Kathmandu is one of the most beautiful cities in the world because of its striking nature, impressive temples and long traditions.
The Old Town of Kathmandu is dominated by Hindu temples, especially at Durbar Marg. Some of the most important religious buildings are found in the outer districts of Pashupatinath, where visitors will predominantly find Buddhist temples and shrines. Kathmandu used to be a destination of the famous ‘Hippie Trail’ which became famous in the 60’s and 70’s. As it is a very spiritual place, tourists come here to learn about religious lifestyles, nature and spiritual practices. Unfortunately, Kathmandu is one of the world’s most polluted cities as a result of traffic and industry.
The best flight connections are offered by Thai Airlines and Emirates. The journey is long (about 20 to 33 hours) but those who research well will find a fast and convenient flight with only one stop (usually Bangkok).
