Geneva Flight Guide
The Swiss city Geneva- also known as Genéve - welcomes guests with a variety of cultural sights and attractions. The French speaking city is seat of the UN and Red Cross which makes it such a significant part of Europe. Geneva is also referred to as the smallest metropolis in the world and is built around a lake which is also called Geneva.
The east side of the city is the location for most hotels and the finest restaurants. The heart of Geneva, however, is the Old Town and the Place du Bourg-de-Four with its monumental fountain and the famous Cathedral of St. Pierre which is the city’s emblem. From here visitors can explore a variety of museums, some of them free of charge. At the top of Mount Salève travellers will have breathtaking views of Geneva, the lake and the stunning surrounding nature. Winter sport fans can make their way to the skiing area which is shared by the French and Swiss. Nightlife in Geneva is very classy and guests lounge on beautiful terraces and linger in chic cafes. Visit the Place du Molard near the Pont du Mont-Blanc for an exclusive night out.
Geneva is a good place to visit all year round. Tourists who like it snowy and want to engage in winter sports should plan their trip in winter (December/January). Sunshine is guaranteed in the summer months from June to August. Qantas and British Airways collaborate with Canadian and US airlines as well as Air France for flights between Australia and Geneva. The travel time is approximately 19 – 22 hours.
