Detroit City Flight Guide
Detroit is a metropolis in the U.S. state of Michigan and is located between Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie. Detroit was established by French captain Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac in 1701 and was originally called "Ville d'Etroit" ("City of the Straits"). With just under 900,000 inhabitants, it is the 11th largest city in the US today and is the centre of the U.S. automobile industry.
Detroit has numerous great buildings in different architectural styles that shape the skyline. The most impressive ones are Comerica Tower at Detroit Center, Guardian Building, Penobscot Building, the Fisher Building and the Cadillac Place near the Wayne State University. Other very well-known buildings include Fox Theater, the Opera House and the Detroit Institute of Arts, which are all among the tallest buildings of the US. While the centre is dominated by high-rise buildings, the rest of the city mainly consists of residential homes and small houses. The famous Motown Studios are also located in Detroit and have greatly influenced the US music industry. In addition to that, some of the biggest US musicians are sons and daughters of Detroit- among the most famous ones are Madonna and the first white rapper, Eminem.
There are several airports in Detroit and International passengers will land in Detroit Metro Airport. The flight connections are not very convenient and some Australian airports are not serviced. From Sydney, there are at least 2 stops on the way and the journey time is around 23-26 hours. It is recommended to compare different airlines which may offer faster options.
