Copenhagen, Denmark's capital, is not only one of the most popular tourist destinations, but also one of the most diverse cities in Scandinavia. Tourists from all over the world come to Copenhagen to discover the Danish charm and to admire the famous architectural monuments in the heart of the city. Copenhagen was established in 1167 and recorded a population of about 1 million people.

Tivoli is one of the oldest recreational and amusement parks in the world and one of the main attractions of Copenhagen. Stroget is a great place to go shopping, featuring all famous brands as well as small boutiques. Among the most popular districts to visit are alternative Norrebro, fashionable Vesterbro and the very special Christianshavn. . In the 60’s, Christianshavn was occupied by followers of a counter culture and through their alternative movement the “Land of Christiana” was born.

To visit all important Copenhagen attractions it is recommended to schedule at least one whole day for sightseeing. Under no circumstances should visitors miss the Town Hall Square in the heart of the capital, which offers a magnificent view of Copenhagen and nearby castles Amalienborg and Rosenborg. On rainy days, guests can visit one of the many museums especially the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Museum at Dante Plads. A peaceful stroll along the harbour will lead to the world famous statue of the Little Mermaid. A boat tour around the harbour and canals of Copenhagen are also a must for an unforgettable stay.

Weather conditions are traditionally Scandinavian and a trip during the summer months is best when looking for warm weather and sunshine. Ideal time to travel is between May and October as the winters can get very cold and snowy.

Qantas and British Airways offer flights to Copenhagen’s small airport only via London from Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane. Average flight times are between 22 and 25 hours depending on connection and stops.
