Cardiff Flight Guide
Cardiff is the capital of Wales and part of the United Kingdom. With 319,000 inhabitants it is a fairly small city but has a rich history which attracts many tourists each year. Cardiff has a large harbour and is famous for its interesting rocks which can be seen very well on a ferry ride. It is also the link between Europe mainland and Wales through its complex ferry infrastructure. Cardiff has the largest coal port in the world and the harbour area has become a popular entertainment zone. The state of Wales is determined to maintain the Welsh language, and tourists will be confronted with unreadable street signs which have English translations to help visitors.
Opposite the striking Cardiff Castle is the entrance to Queen's Archades, which leads directly to the newly designed pedestrian Queen Street. Nearby is the beautiful Civic Center which features masterful buildings such as the City Hall and the Court and the National Museum. Behind the Civic Centre are the beautiful Alexandra, Sophia and Gorsedd Gardens which are ideal to relax and take a break. At night, visit some of the numerous pubs and try the local beer ‘Brains’.
The Holiday Inn in Cardiff is located in the heart of the city and only moments away from Cardiff nightlife and sights. It is affordable, clean, comfortable and has a breakfast buffet. A flight to Cardiff can be long from Australia with 2 or more stops on the way. Look out for offers by Qantas, British Airways and Air France, while expecting a journey time of 30+ hours.
