Brussels Flight Guide
Brussels is the royal capital of Belgium and no other city in Europe is given such great media attention due to its important role within the European Union. The city is located in the central territory of Belgium. Its beginnings can be followed back to the 6th century AD. Brussels was elected Capital of Culture in 2000 as it combines both historic and modern Europe. Flemish and French are the languages spoken in Belgium and both cultures are embedded in Brussels.
The historical city centre of Brussels is often referred to as the “Pentagon” due to its heart shape. This district has become increasingly appealing to tourists because of the wide range of pubs and restaurants that are located close to all historic sights. The government district is also worth a visit to catch a glimpse of major politicians. Maritime weather conditions make Brussels an ideal travel destination for the summer months between June and August to enjoy a fresh breeze while strolling in the sunshine.
From Brussels-Midi you can visit London using the Eurostar train which is a quick and convenient way to travel. The Radisson hotels are among the most popular places to stay, however a Holiday Inn branch located within the city centre is also a good option. There are two airports - Brussels-Zaventem is the main one to look for when travelling from Australia. Qantas and British Airways fly from Sydney and Brisbane, usually stopping in London on the way. Average flight duration is no less than 20 hours from Australia and can reach up to 40 hours depending on flight connections.
