Alice Springs Flight Guide
Alice Springs was named after a nearby water source and is often referred to as “The Red Heart of Australia”. It lies in the Northern Territory and owes its nickname to the beautiful red landscape with majestic hills and astonishing nature. Unfortunately the temperature in Alice Springs rises to such a high level that virtually all wildlife is killed.
The Anzac Hill is a great place to overview the entire city and its surroundings, whilst the Alice Springs Desert Park introduces exotic and unique animals featuring live shows. Culture lovers should make their way to Alice Springs’ Cultural Precinct where they can learn more about Australian history and art. Approximately 90km from Alice Springs is a Camel Farm which is also worth a visit and a day trip there is offered by several tourism companies.
As mentioned earlier, the climate in Alice Springs is extreme and the best time to visit is between May and August when the temperatures are around 20°C. Not surprisingly the place gets very crowded during those months and visitors who enjoy hot weather (30- 40°C) can also travel in the summer. The Backpacker Resort is one of the cheaper places to spend the night and is ideal for younger and budget-conscious tourists. A little more upscale is the Desert Palms Resort, which looks like a tropical oasis in the middle of the desert. Qantas and Tiger Airlines offer flights from practically every domestic airport. The trip will be no longer than 5 hours.
