The Republic of South Korea is located in Eastern Asia south of North Korea in the Korean Peninsula. It has a yellow sea coastline and is separated from Japan to its east by the Sea of Japan. Its capital and largest city Seoul; Pusan is one of its major cities. The official languages are Korean and South Korean. Some of the places to visit in South Korea include; Ulleungdo, Andong, Guinsa, Seoraksan National Park and Panmunjeom. South Korea experiences hot and humid summers. Rainfall is highest during summer from June to September when temperatures average 28 degrees Celsius. Winter runs from December to March when temperatures are sub zero especially in January when they average 7 degrees Celsius. Incheon International Airport (IATA: ICN) in Seoul is the largest and busiest airport in South Korea and one of the busiest in Asia. Other major airports include; Gimpo International Airport (IATA: GMP), Jeju International Airport (IATA: CJU), Muan International Airport (IATA: MWX), Gimhae International Airport (IATA: PUS) and Yangyang International Airport (IATA: YNY). Direct flights to South Korea from Australia are hard to come by; however, Singapore airlines and Qantas operate cheap indirect flights. Main departure airports are Sydney Kingsford Smith, Brisbane, Perth and Darwin. The average direct flight time from Sydney to Seoul in South Korea in a commercial airliner is 10 hours.
