The Russian Federation is the largest country in the world occupying a physical area of 17, 075, 400 sq. Km. There are huge variations in weather patterns due to the vast physical size of Russia. Arctic Circle territories in the north have sub zero temperatures all year round. The largest airport in Russia in terms of passenger traffic and cargo is the Domodedovo International Airport (IATA: DME). The Domodedovo is also the 18th largest in Europe. Other major international airports are the Sheremetyevo International Airport (IATA: SVO) and Vnukovo International Airport (IATA: VKO). Direct flights to Russia from Australia are rare. Cheap indirect flights are operated by Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Delta Airlines and Lufthansa.
