Maldives Flight Guide

The republic of the Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean to the south west of the Indian sub-continent. The capital and largest city is Male and the official language is Dhivehi.
The Maldives is a popular tourist destination offering mainly beach based tourism, a paradise on earth with excellent beaches. Tourism now accounts for more than a quarter of the GDP.

The Maldives has two international airports, the Malé International Airport (IATA: MLE) and the Gan International Airport (IATA: GAN). Direct flights from Australia to Maldives are not common. Cheap indirect flights are offered by Singapore Airlines and Qantas and main departure airports are Melbourne Tullamarine, Brisbane, Sydney Kingsford Smith and Adelaide. The average direct flight time from Sydney or Melbourne to Male in the Maldives in a commercial airliner is 12 hours. Indirect flights will vary depending on the connecting hub.
