Laos Flight Guide

Laos is officially known as the Laos people’s democratic republic. It is located in south west Asia and is landlocked. Its capital and largest city is Vientiane. Other notable cities include; Huay Xai, Luang and Prabong which is a UNESCO world heritage site. Laos has numerous temples and colonial era architecture. The northern region is known to offer trekking expeditions. Other popular tourist spots include; Phou Hin Boun national park, Wat Phu ruins, Argkhur style Khmer temples and “four thousand islands”.

Laos has a distinct rainy season that runs from May to November. The dry season runs from December to April.

Vientiane International airport (IATA: VTE) is the main international airport in Laos. Direct flights to Laos from Australia are very difficult to get and so are indirect flights. The average direct flight time from Sydney or Melbourne to Laos in a commercial airliner is 9 and a half hours. Indirect flights will vary depending on the connecting hub.
