Germany is a federal state and is officially known as the federal republic of Germany. It is located in central Europe and has the largest population of all member states of the European union. Berlin is its capital and largest city. Other major cities in Germany include; Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Essen, Dusseldorf and Bremen. The official language is German. Germany has a rich culture and history. Places to visit include historical locations such as Saint Nicholas church in Leipzig, GDR museums in Thuringa as well as numerous castles, parks and gardens.

The average direct flight time from Sydney or Melbourne to Germany in a commercial airliner is 20 hours to Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Berlin. Indirect flights will vary depending on the connecting hub.
