Virgin Blue Cheap Flights, Airfares & Air Travel

Virgin Blue is a low cost carrier flying to Australian domestic destinations and to international destinations including Auckland through its Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue carriers. Destinations serviced by the airline include Port Macquarie, Perth, Melbourne and Rockhampton. In the 2008 Skytrax Awards, Virgin Blue was named “Best Low Cost Airline (Australia/Pacific). The Virgin Blue Group is also launching V Australia to fly the trans-pacific route at the end of 2008.

Virgin Blue – Economy & Premium Economy Class

The airline offers Economy and Premium Economy seating on its aircraft. Premium Economy offers more legroom, priority check in and lounge access at selected Australian airports, including Sydney. Economy Class passengers wishing to have a little more legroom may upgrade to seats in the Blue Zone for a small charge, with the fee dependent upon the length of the flight.

Food and beverages are available for purchase from the onboard menu. Purchases may be made using a credit card or with cash. Entertainment systems are offered in flight, with access to Foxtel available for a small charge.

On flights booked from 1 September 2008, passengers travelling on a Go! Fare or Blue Saver Fare who wish to check in baggage will pay a surcharge for this service. The fee is payable online or at the Airport, but is considerably cheaper if purchased online in advance. A baggage allowance remains complimentary for all other fare types.

For Business Travellers, Virgin Blue offers Corporate Plus fares, offering a greater degree of flexibility. Corporate Plus ticket holders also receive a large complimentary baggage allowance, lounge access and priority check in.

Velocity Rewards Programme

The airline runs the Velocity rewards programme, which enables frequent flyers to build up points towards free flights and other benefits. Points can be earned flying with Virgin Blue or with their Program Partners. Red, Silver and Gold membership levels are available, with benefits dependent upon membership level. Gold members receive free lounge access, while Silver members are eligible to pay a reduced lounge access fee.
