In the last ten years the famous-to-locals wine and food in the Margaret River Wine region has become something one can only describe as being the most incredible sensory experience. There are many new grape varieties that are showing great promise even though they are still be relatively young.
International wine awards have been coming in thick and fast in the recent years and have started bringing hordes of tourists from international and domestic locations who are all desperate to relax and gorge on incredible wine and scrumptious food. The true backbone of the Margaret River wine region is it's exceptional Cabernets which are sold in wine bars all around the world.
When you visit this oasis just south of Perth in Western Australia you will soon discover that each town is situated close to many renowned wineries and eating houses, many of which have won countless awards for the quality of the food and wine that they offer to the public.
If you are planning a trip I'd suggest coming in Autumn when the Margaret River Wine Region festival is held, it's an incredible event where you get to taste everything the area has to offer and buy up lots of bottles and local delicacies to take home with you.
