Singapore Airlines have agreed on a new delivery schedule with Airbus for their next eight A380 aircraft.
The new schedule means that Singapore Airlines will receive their new aircraft 6-12 months later than originally planned. The new schedule has delayed the delivery of the airlines 12th A380 through to its 19th. Singapore Airlines will still receive their 10th and 11th A380's on time and they are due to arrive in this calendar year.
The revised schedule will mean that Singapore Airlines will not receive their 12th A380 until October 2010. The original schedule had the aircraft arriving by April. The last aircraft of the current order will not arrive for use until January 2012 rather than the original date of January 2011.
Singapore Airlines was the launch customer for the Airbus A380 and they are currently operating a total of nine A380's.
Singapore Airlines currently has regular flights with the A380 with twice daily flights to London. The Airbus A380 also flies daily to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Paris and Sydney. At the end of September Singapore Airlines will begin a daily service to Melbourne.
